videoconference specialists
Inland AV recently introduced Managed Services to help organizations get more from their videoconference (VC) investment. Previous articles on Managing System Growth (point-to-point system to multi-point) and Less Than Bandwidth Cost Increase! have outlined some of the Managed Services infrastructure and network cost savings. A Managed Services package also includes Call Management services to help facilitate a great VC experience.
Typically an organization starts with a point-to-point videoconference system and the internal IT person is responsible for the system. This person becomes the "video specialist" and is required to make the call connection for each VC session. Often the "video specialist" is also responsible for managing the booking of the VC system. They end up with additional technical and administrative duties. This is usually not a large issue until the organization expands their VC systems. As the VC system use increases so does the administration and technical support required. An organization can feel the need to add more staff to handle the new technical and administrative work.
The technical requirements for managing a VC system could result in the internal staff person requiring additional training. They need to maintain their organizations VC system, make the call connections as well as test every new call in advance and solve any issues before the scheduled meeting. The timeliness of balancing their other responsibilities and managing the VC system can make the use of the VC system dependent on this individual's availability.
The administration of the VC system is booking calls and sending out reminders to all meeting participants.
