Olympic Torch Relay In Winnipeg

RBC Royal Bank hosted a special Olympic Torch Relay stop in Winnipeg before it continued its journey through Manitoba and on to Vancouver.  The January 7, 2010 early morning event was extremely cold with a wind chill temperature reaching below minus 30 degrees Celsius.  However an enthusiastic  crowd of students and community members braved the temperature to get a glimpse of the Olympic spirit. Gail Asper, a local torchbearer chosen by RBC for her work with the new Human Rights Museum carried the Torch onstage and passed on the Olympic Flame to Marg Wilson.  Wilson is a two time torchbearer, she had the honour of carrying the torch in 1988 when the Olympics were held in Calgary Alberta.

Inland AV was proud to play a part in the festivities by providing an audio system and operating technicians.  Inland AV also came to the rescue with a van that doubled as a hot chocolate and muffin stand.  "We were ready to help when RBC needed a place to hand out hot beverages to a cold crowd" said Robert Collings, Inland AV Rentals Manager.  "We brought our cube van and it worked great as a stand and shelter for the snacks.  With the extreme weather, everyone appreciated the hot beverages provided by RBC."
