AssiniboineCU AV System

Assiniboine Credit Union

The Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) recently amalgamated many of their staff to new office space at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg previously held by Sport Manitoba and other businesses. This move required extensive renovations to the building.

Gary Mitchell, Vice President, Facilities & Procurement stated "With the different mergers we had 200 administration staff spread over 6 locations around Winnipeg. With the completion of the renovations the administration staff all work here and serve the 25 Manitoba ACU branches, Commercial & Small Business division, as well as our 2 new Winnipeg Insurance Brokers. We now have space for meetings and training sessions within our 200 Main Street facility."

The AV system covers several floors and includes the 6th floor Assiniboine Executive Boardroom and a series of meeting and training rooms on the second and fifth floors. The rooms are named after former credit unions that have merged with Assiniboine such as Keystone, Astra, Vantis and Buffalo.

Between each of the 16 conference microphones is a "cubby" as pictured in the above photo. When needed, a person can plug in a laptop into the network. There is power, VGA connection, ethernet and an audio input. Everyone at the boardroom table can easily share their screens with the group without having to leave their seat.

Audio Amplification and Reinforcement

The above photo displays the two audio systems: amplification and reinforcement. An amplification system is used when the audio source is from a CD, DVD, cable television or computer.

The speakers highlighted above:

  • #1 is a sub-woofer and reproduces low audio frequencies under 180 Hz
  • #2 highlights a full range speaker that is built into the wall
  • #3 reinforces the voices of people around the large boardroom table.

Wireless Crestron Touchscreen System Control

The Assiniboine Boardroom is controlled by a wireless Crestron touchpanel. The touchpanel powers and controls the functions of the projector and monitors as well as the microphone system, audio, teleconference system, DVD player and numerous computer inputs.
