Winnipeg Welcomes Ubisoft

Friday, April 6, 2018, Ubisoft, The City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba held a press conference to announce that Ubisoft is investing $35 million in Manitoba, creating 100 new jobs at their new Winnipeg studio (location to be determined). Presentations were made by Dayna Spiring, President & CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg, Yannis Mallat, Ubisoft Canada CEO, Darryl Long, Ubisoft Winnipeg Managing Director, Honourable Blaine Pedersen, Minister of Manitoba Growth, Enterprise & Trade and Mayor Brian Bowman, City of Winnipeg.

The event was held in The Millennium Centre. This beautiful marble and glass room was built in 1911 and while a beautiful space for the press conference offered some audio intelligibility challenges. With hard reflective surfaces on all surfaces, the array speakers offered a way to control and minimize the reverberation in the room so that the speeches were intelligible.

The videos were crisp and bright with a 12,000 lumen Epson projector set up in rear projection mode and still looked great off-axis.

The staging of this event was completed with lighting. Two Ubisoft logos were projected on the majestic walls as well as programmable moving lights and up-lighting on the walls and stage drape.
